My first impression upon opening the package is: it’s a very nice looking piece of small equipment with all necessary accessories. I have had a wrist blood pressure monitor made by Citizen about 10 years. A few months ago the inflator lost its power. Frankly I only used it occasionally, initially for my Mom, then my self. All together probably a few hundred measurements. I suspect it’s probably hard to make durable inflator in such compact space. This upper arm unit with separate cuff looks like a medical professional quality equipment. It’s still quite portable as compared with the wrist type. From the list of pros/cons, I can say a lot of thought goes into the design and making of this product.

    Pros:
    – Elegant design and nicely made: large, colorful display, easy to read. When I move around or sit in awkward pose, the pose icon lit up.
    – Robust parts: the cuff clothe feels durable, the cuff hook is made of metal instead of plastic.
    – Easy to place the cuff: markings on the cuff clearly shows the alignment to artery, orientation and placement on upper arm (see the last 2 pictures). Not many people keep the instruction around for years.
    – Powered by either battery or 5V USB charging cable. This is a very thoughtful feature because you may not always have batteries around (dead or taken by kids for game controllers). If you use often, the unit will be paid for in a few years by the money saved on batteries.
    – Well written instructions: blood pressure measurement is affected by many factors. The manual is well written, everything in details.
    – Good value: it costs somewhat less than my Citizen wrist unit for all the enhanced benefits.

    Cons:
Haven’t used it long enough to see one yet. Will follow up if notice one.

Disclaimer: the unit was paid by the supplier. I provide honest reviews on items useful for my family to help potential customers like myself determine if a product and its features meet their needs or if there’s any potential concerns/inconveniences in actual use. It’s a return to what I benefited from reading all the good reviews. My review stay the same regardless if discount is offered or not.

I love this blood pressure monitor. It was packaged well and arrived without any damage to the package. It includes a small carrying case, monitor and cuff, batteries and a charging cord. Instructions also, but you really don’t need them, it’s self-explanatory. It feels just like the cuffs in the doctor’s office, actually better than the doctor’s office. This is a great quality. I can confirm that is gives an accurate reading because this was my exact blood pressure when I went to the dentist office. I need to start monitoring my BP because my bottom number has been high. This is an excellent choice.

This is my 4th blood pressure monitor that I have owned. It seems to be the most accurate and matches the readings in the doctors office. I really don’t care about any other features, I just need it to be accurate. I’m 6’4 and 235 with relatively big-strong arms. Other monitors with smaller cuffs tend to be for small petite women and are not accurate for me. You put it on, press a button, get a reading in a minute or so.

If you are fighting blood pressure, make sure you are getting enough potassium and magnesium in your diet. You don’t want to take prescription medicine to fight a vitamin or mineral deficiency and this monitor will help you understand the effect your diet has on your pressure. After my experiments, I’ve had to give up caffeine as it would jack my pressure up to unsafe levels (170105). I’m also trying to eat more beans which are very high in potassium and magnesium.

Here is an experiment for you. Drink 1 teaspon of Cream of Tartar mixed with a glass of water. Please do not take more than 1 level teaspon as its very high in potassium and can be dangerous and send you to the emergency room. Wait about an hour and check your pressure, I bet you feel a whole lot calmer and your pressure goes down. This means you probably have a deficiency and need to look for ways to get more potassium in your diet.

Update: I went to my doctor’s office today and compared this blood pressure reading to what I got in the doctors office. Dr had it at 130/80. This monitor was 131/80. I’m very pleased with that. Other monitors I have tested were 10-20 points off.

I’ve been getting blood pressure numbers a little bit higher than usual during my last couple of doctor visits. I purchased this home device so that I could track the numbers in between visits. I plan on using this monthly and keeping a log. I have never owned a device like this or taken my own blood pressure, so I was a little apprehensive. Luckily, the setup and first use of the machine were incredibly easy. The instructions were crystal clear and I will have no problem using this device quickly and easily each month. The numbers on my first use were in line with the numbers I received at the doctor’s office, so I trust the accuracy. The display is large and easy to read. The device itself appears to be well-built and quite durable. I love the carrying case that was included as it will make storage easier. (I can just throw the box away). I appreciated that batteries were included along with an adapter cord, so I can use batteries or the adapter. Once the batteries have died, I will probably just use the adapter.
