The products readings are not accurate. Had this checked by medical professionals. However, unbelievable that the manufacturer will not allow the LifeSource Upper Arm Blood Pressure Monitor to be returned. In Amazon’s note it states the product cannot be opened in order to return. How do I know if the product works, if it cannot be tried on.

This item cannot be returned even though it is a Prime item. I ordered the wrong size cuff according to my doctor. Now, I am stuck with this machine.

If I could give this a half star, I would. Product is defective, continues to not turn on or stay turned on despite changing batteries numerous times, when it finally stays turned on – my husband has gotten numerous erroneous falsely high readings (we have been checking this against another monitor and manual pressure readings), worst of all I find out it isn’t eligible for return despite being purchased less than a month ago. Pretty steep price to be out for a hunk of junk that doesn’t work. Don’t bother purchasing this. Extremely disappointed!

I lift weights and my arms are bigger than the average cuff size. Omron’s cuffs stop at 17 and my arms are about 17.5 to 18 inches, so whenever I tested my bp at home my systolic tended to be higher than my doctor’s machine (he uses the commercial grad Omron that has larger cuff sizes not available to civilians). This machine does a much better job of it and is consistent (within 5 to 10 points). The XL cuff is comfortable (I mean for a blood pressure machine) and does not feel like its about to break my arm off during inflation (had that problem with cheaper machines).

A small word of warning… The cuff size is different. More of a cone and seems more designed for guys that workout than guys who are larger by volume. So if you are big (and not in that I workout sense) this cuff may not work for you.

For me, its a headache saver.

On the advice of my cardiologist, I needed to purchase a home blood pressure monitor. This model UA-789 from Life Source with the XL cuff was problematic from the beginning. I carefully followed the instructions and finally achieved a reading. I would wait more than 5 minutes between retry attempts and went so far as to remove all batteries and unplug the cord for the cuff. I figured starting from the very beginning each time would give the best chance of getting it right. Only 1 out of 5 tries would result in any reading at all. The machine would give a reading sometimes. The failed attempts were just puffing up the cuff, a countdown and then – nothing. It would freeze up and not reset, not try to do another reading even after waiting, squishing down the cuff and being in the correct sitting position. I have a tendency toward blood pressure that is too low and my current medications for another issue could drop it dangerously low. The machine would give me very high readings like I have never gotten in the hospital, in the doctor’s office or the specialty clinic. The support rep’s response was that the machine was fine and that it likely that I did not have the cuff on properly. I explained that I could get some readings so the cuff must have been positioned well enough at some point on my own, but the machine was not consistent. He said my doctor would have to calibrate it. I said I would rather get a refund and he told me to have a nice day and hung up. My only response was a questioning sounding ‘OK.’ I was so shocked that I just sat quiet for a moment then started writing the review. I have enough life critical issues right now that I do not plan a huge campaign around this device. Time for the trash and a different product.

GROSSLY INACCURATE AND THEY WON’T LET ME RETURN IT. I tested it against my doctor’s office equipment. This monitor said my BP was 168/106. My doctor’s equipment said my BP was 138/84. Do not buy this piece of garbage.I’m now stuck with a $100 piece of junk.

The cuff fits around my fat arm just fine, but even with one end jammed into my armpit, the other end still does not clear my elbow. This cuff may work great for tall people but I would steer clear of it if you’re petite. Also, the company is being a jerk about returns and at close to $100 that’s a lot of money to lose!

My initial impression upon unpacking was that this is a clinical quality blood pressure machine. This is seen in the fine construction of the extra-large conical (cone-shaped) arm cuff that will fit 16 to 24 inch circumference upper arms and in the large digital display of the solidly made pump and measurement instrument. The conical cuff fits well around an upper arm that is large around at the armpit and narrows toward the elbow but unsuitable for non-tapering arms. The device will register up to 60 consecutive measurements . Blood pressures were within points of another automatic device and thus the LifeSource is consistently accurate. However, the measurements were not compared to those that could have been taken at your physician’s office. It needs (not included) four AA batteries but can be used with a plug-in small power supply that is provided. Clear manuals and quick instruction sheets are included as well as a neat square zip bag that will contain everything.
It might be useful to also purchase the regular large size cuff (LifeSource brand) for the rest of the adult family.
Be careful to read the complete description of this blood pressure monitor as it is not refundable if you find it unsuitable.

Bought this for my sister and once she got the hang of adjusting the cuff it works perfectly.
