I chose this monitor because Omron’s reputation for accuracy and because of the promise that it can log the data on my phone. Here are my first impressions:
= It is larger than it looks in the picture, in fact, it is the largest BP monitor I ever had.
= It came with the nice comfortable black cuff and a carrying bag, as well as with batteries. Installing the battery was easy and I was able to check it out. It measures pressure from pumping to max and then reducing pressure as old school devices. The other devices go from low pressure to higher and call it a ”gentle” measuring method. Anyway, its reading correlates with the readings of two other monitors I own.
= It has a a memory to store up to 60 readings locally…
This completes the ”no surprise” features. Now going for surprises which reduced the rating from 5 stars to 2.
= Surprise #1: I tried to set the date and time on the monitor, and I read first that it is done automatically with smartphone and bluetooth (which led to surprise #2). Later I found that it was still possible directly, but I went to Bluetooth mode.
= Surprise #2: Ok, I thought I can download a free application, pair it with the monitor and that will allow me to store readings on my phone. The Omron Connect application is 107MB! And when installed, it does not operate with the monitor until you create the ”Account” with AliveCor service which is claimed Omron partner..
= Surprise #3: The creation of the account requires collection of personal data: e-mail, name, last name, date of birth and height. I don’t think all this is really critical just for pairing with Bluetooth transmitter and setting the time. When creating account, it also requests consent to send health data to Internet (which is assured to be stored in USA) and access to location service of the phone (to track your location? The application does not work when location service permission is denied). And, the BP data is not stored on the phone with 189MB(!) of storage used by application (148MB application, 28.77MB(!) user data, it is stored on some partner’s service! And, the data may only be transfered when there is an Internet connectivity. This is against my privacy expectations and I would rate it as 2 stars.
= Surprise #4: The intent of collecting the personal data is probably to give some advice. So I have measured 120/69 mmHg BP, which was always considered normal. The advice classifies it as elevated.
= Surprise #5: The application is expected to show history and generate reports. However, since the data is not stored on the smartphone locally, it requires Internet connection every time you ask for summary data.

The verdict: The design and performance of the monitor, as well as an intent to use Bluetooth connectivity are good. But the fact that one needs to give away personal data, store the readings on some third party service and even Bluetooth feature cannot be used autonomously without consent to enter in agreement with the unknown third party service is a BIG WARNING for me. If I knew this, I would not buy this monitor. I hope that Omron reads the feedback and redesigns the application to reduce the size, store the data locally on the phone and make it anonymous. That all brought my rating to 2 stars.

This unit from day one has been over exceeding my blood pressure amounts. For the amount of money I paid for it should have came a little bit more accurate. Different readings every time. Use it 3 times each day in same time same room 3 minutes apart different reading by a lot. A reputable company Amazon choice. Would not recommend

The added memory to track blood pressure is great to help measure the effectiveness of medication and to provide accurate details for your medical records. Easy to use and setup only takes less than a minute. I would highly recommend ordering the AC cable as it does not come included in the box.

I was very satisfied with this product during its first 30 days of use. Then the return window closed. Suddenly it would no longer consistently take readings, exhibiting error code 5 which meant improper placement on the arm. I had been using the same adjustment on the cuff and not changing it just slipping the cuff off and on each time. This worked fine, sometimes taking my pressure up to 10 times per day when I was having heart rate concerns. On about day 50 it just quit taking readings and would only show the code. So I guess I’m stuck with this marvelous but not working device because I can’t return it. Because of this, I would strongly not recommend this device for this vitally important function.

Like all the lower cost Omron product, this ”gold” version does a great job of measuring BP. I bought the higher cost ”gold” version so I could easily move my BP to other apps. Unfortunately the app requires you to enter ALL of your medical data. The app sucks for other reasons also, but, the ”give me all your health data” is a killer in my opinion (note that the app ”Omron connect” is rated 2.5 out of 5 by Google.

I bought this because I wanted the bluetooth connectivity. The device is supposed to come with Bluetooth turned on as the default. On my device, bluetooth is off. When I try to turn it on by pressing the bluetooth button for more than 2 seconds, the P flashes to pair. My app on my iPhone 10Xr finds the correct Omron model but it can’t pair. I am going to return this unless I find out how to turn the Omron’s bluetooth on.

I find it incredible that 77% of reviews are credited at 5 stars. Did those people actually get the same device?? Did the download and activate the same (required) app?? Are they thinking about what Omron is doing?

My medical provider spoke highly of the Omron line of devices. Unfortunately, we had no discussion of Omron’s high handed insistence that to simply measure and store records of a person’s blood pressure in a manner that supports the person’s use of that information, Omron must be given access to a great deal of other medically marketable personal information. They take no steps to provide assurances of privacy, or anonymity, and offer no justification for the collection of such info.

The collection of personally identifiable medical data, with no assurance of protection under HIPAA, or even a pretense of how that collection of information serves the interests of the consumer, is simply unacceptable. I am returning the device.

I ordered another brand…the cuff was 24”s long…I kid you not! I asked the Seller if he could exchange the cuff for a smaller one, because I probably ran my BP up 30 points trying to get the cuff on…not to forget mentioning, the Velcro was the full length of the cuff…so it grabbed hold many times whilst trying to tighten it up…Well, the Seller told me to go to his store and buy the cuff I needed! Needless to say, I sent it back and several of my friends recommended Omron..thus I just purchased the Omron Gold. Where the other BP machine said my BP was 167 to 176…I knew that was wrong, and the Omron proved it…Save money and don’t bother with any of the rest…this is the best!

I bought this device specifically because it had bluetooth so that i can transfer readings directly to my phone or pc. However, the only way to do that is with their app, Omron Connect, which requires you to create an account and agree to share your data. The description did not mention this, otherwise I would not have bought it.
Also there’s a slot for a power cable but you have to buy that separately. The whole device seems like a scam to take my personal data.

This monitor works well, but I bought it and paid more money to have the ability to transfer my readings to an application on my phone so I don’t have to write down every reading by hand. Very disappointed and I am returning it.

Provides accurate readings, and records it all in its memory Two peoples daily records can be stored separately.. Comfortable fit and super easy to use and retrieve past information. I chose this model based upon other ”good” reviews, and I am not disappointed
