About this item

  • Unlimited memory and users with the free app – The Omron gold wrist monitor stores 200 total blood pressure readings for 2 users (100 per user, most of any Omron wrist blood pressure monitor). Memory and users are unlimited with the Omron connect free app which works with amazon alexa-enabled devices (on select IOS & android devices).

  • AC adapter included – The Omron Ac Adapter eliminates the worry of changing batteries in your Omron Blood Pressure Monitor. The convenient AC adapter helps make sure your monitor is ready whenever you are.
  • Note – Blood pressure varies constantly due to many factors including stress, time of day, and how you wrap the cuff. These factors may affect your blood pressure.
  • This soft, wide-range D-ring cuff is designed for a more comfortable measurement. The cuff fits all large and standard adult upper arms 9” to 17” in circumference

Tried for 3 days but still does not work. Settings come and go. Can’t enable monitor Bluetooth. Directions on app are different from written instructions included in box. Setup is confusing and only partially functions. Not recommended.

My doctor suggested I needed to measure my blood pressure more often at home. He specified a cuff to measure rather than one down around my wrist. This OMRON BP device has lived up to doctor’s orders. At first my MD asked me to bring this BP measuring device to the clinic to compare to the patient room’s BP device. My unit measured within a point or two of the doctor’s manual BP measuring device. Since then, I’ve taken multiple daily readings with my OMRON unit. The readings provided quantitive data which actually helped my MD to alter my BP treatment – with favorable results. The only issue I’ve had is getting the data transferred via bluetooth to my mobile device. Sometimes it works straight away and other times it takes several attempts. Bottom line is, I am happy to take more responsibility for my own healthcare. I have two requests: 1. Provide a .pdf output via an email format to printout test results, and 2. Provide an average over a selected time frame – something my MD asked for.

Very dissatisfied. Consistently shows 20pts higher is systolic and 10-15 higher on diastolic. I compared to the doctor’s machine twice. Contacted the manufacturer, paid to ship it back only to have it returned with a letter saying it tested within parameters.
If I use the readings from this machine, my meds would have to be I increased and per the doctors readings, I should lower the ones I’m already on.
I can no longer return it since sending it back for review put me past the return date. I eont buy this brand again.

This is the latest generation of OMRON blood pressure monitors, released in 2019. Considering that OMRON is a ”brand name” and that this is the latest and the greatest that they can offer, I had high hopes for this monitor. It came nicely packaged, with a soft case, batteries, and a printed manual included in the box. Unlike most consumer goods on this planet, it is not made in China but it Vietnam.

I have an elevated blood pressure and decided that I need to monitor it to find the best combination of food, exercise, and natural healing methods to keep it in control without medication. The specification of the monitor, printed in the manual, is: accuracy of measured blood pressure +/- 3 mm Hg, and +/-5% for pulse. This looks great on paper. This means, if your blood pressure is 150, the readings should be within 147 to 153 range. To validate the specified accuracy, I took 9 consecutive measurements, separated by 60 seconds between the end of the previous measurement (when the cuff deflates completely) and the beginning of the new one. I expected my blood pressure to be in the mid-140s range. Here are the 9 readings for my systolic pressure:

    161 – 152 – 144 – 164 – 152 – 160 – 146 – 160 – 152

Can anyone tell me what my systolic blood pressure is? If it is 161, I have a serious problem. If it is 144, is elevated, but kind of OK. The range from 144 to 164 is 20 mm Hg. It is not anywhere close to the stated +/-3 mm Hg accuracy. Note, nothing changed in my condition within about 16-18 mins which it took to collect these 9 measurements. I did not remove or readjust the cuff. I was sitting at the same table occupied just with this test. I was just watching the time, pressing the button, and taking measurements. There is no reason to think that my blood pressure would fluctuate that much and so randomly when sit in a relaxed position. The only conclusion that I can make is that this monitor is wildly inaccurate and cannot be trusted.

Since it does not meet the spec and cannot be used to make a reasonable conclusion how high my blood pressure it, I consider it not working and sending it back. Looking at other reviews here on this Amazon page, it became clear that I made a mistake and bought a monitor which is consistently inaccurate, as reported by many users. It seems to be not a failing unit which I was lucky to get, but a systemic issue with a poorly designed product.

Not that it matters with the monitor so inaccurate that it cannot be used at all, but a few words on overall impression from its features. It has memory for 100 last readings for each of two users, which is nice. The user interface is a little primitive, for today’s standards – a touch screen is definitely missing. But on the other hand, liquid crystals display might be more battery-friendly. It would be hard to set up without a manual, but since the manual in included and is very detailed, everything can be set up by pressing a sequence of buttons to set up date and time, and everything works.

The platinum version which I got also has the ability of automatically taking 3 measurements and averaging them to improve accuracy. Turning this feature on or off or changing the pause between the measurements through pressing a sequence of buttons is a pain as one has to go through the complete setup process from the very beginning. Another good reason for a lower rating. Given such wild fluctuation of readings in individual measurements, I would not trust the average, although the variability of average is, as expected, lower.

OMRON recommends that users install an application ”OMRON connect”, available for iPhones and Android phones. The app connects to the monitor via Bluetooth. Reportedly, one can quicker set up the monitor via the app, and one can view the history of measurements on the phone. I downloaded the app, but immediately run into a MAJOR RED FLAG when trying to start it – in order to use the app, one has to create an OMRON account, provide some personal health related data (like date of birth, weight, etc.), and agree to receive marketing information. I see absolutely no reason why OMRON should have access to my health information (this company is not my doctor) and why they should have the option of selectively spamming me based on my blood pressure readings. If I had a good level of respect for OMRON based on their ”brand name” status, this respect has fallen down the cliff once I saw their app. No wonder, it has 2.1 stars rating on Google. This rating is partly affected by the problem which I outlined above, and partly by poor and unstable connection to the monitor and lack of functionality, reported by many users. Also, users report that most useful features of this app are not free.

UPDATE 12/31/2019: I returned the Omron Platinum monitor and purchased a different model, Omron Evolve (also ordered through Amazon) – the price was about the same. Evolve is a single-piece monitor which according to OMRON has more sensors than any other consumer level model. There is no tube which connects the cuff to the unit with pump and display. My hope was that the monitor would be able to detect BP more reliably because its sensors do not need to ”listen” to the pulse through the long connecting air pipe. I had a better success with Evolve! Here are 6 consecutive readings for systolic pressure taken with Evolve:

    142 – 143 – 148 – 143 – 144 – 146

This fits into +/- 3 mm Hg tolerance and is much more stable. The readings are where I expected them to be. Evolve did not come with a carrying case and the cuff is a little more stiff than that of Omron Platinum, but at least it works for me and gives consistent readings within the specified tolerances.

My wife’s doctor suggested she get a BP Monitor and he recommended Omron. I purchased this Platinum one for several reasons. I like that it can show you your previous reading and current one at the same time. I like that you can have 2 users. And I like that you can set it to take 3 readings and it will give you the average reading … pretty much like you get at your doctor’s office. It even shows an irregular heartbeat.
The only thing I’m not crazy about is the comment that goes along with each reading. I don’t believe they’re accurate. ie. for 116/80 it says Hypertension Stage 1 … for 124/75 it says Elevated. But this is what their chart says. My doctor says to ignore those comments …it’s the numbers that matter. She said those readings were good. I also like the fact that the readings transfer so easily on my cell. Would I recommend it … yes.

Omron makes absolute garbage and using their inconsistent garbage only raises my Hypertension, bluetooth connectivity is the worst that I have experienced with any device, I was receiving constant notifications to do readings without setting notification up and the monitor gives chronic false readings of irregular heartbeat to promote their Cardia EKG monitors.

Using this garbage seriously only raises my BP, my readings are all over the place. I was recently admitted to Emergency during COVID19 for a condition completely unrelated to any cardiac condition. While in Emergency, I was hooked up to a hypertension monitor and EKG monitor for over 12 hrs and my BP was consistent at 138/78 and no irregular heartbeat, this is while experiencing severe anxiety due to COVID19 risks which naturally elevated my BP.

Prior to my hospital visit, I had a Omron 3 series which was giving unusually high numbers at home for no apparent reason so after my hospital visit, I decided to upgrade to the Omron Platinum monitor thinking I would get more reliable numbers but I got anything but accuracy. My readings were all over the place from extreme highs to unusual lows…a couple of times I thought I was having a heart attack. Not only were the readings inaccurate but the monitor frequently detected irregular heartbeat (mostly on the App readings but rarely detected on the monitor itself). I have never had an irregular heartbeat before and I just completed a medical EKG ordered by my cardiologist a couple month prior to my hospital visit. I was honestly getting up to four to six irregular heartbeat readings a day sometimes for no reason. I strongly feel the irregular heartbeat readings were manipulated in order to promote their Cardia EKG home monitor which I bought but it never detected any irregular heartbeat either so I sent it back. I informed my cardiologist of my bizarre readings with my new monitor so I was sent for another medical EKG test very recently and again, no irregular heartbeat was detected.

Bluetooth connectivity is a complete joke. It sometimes takes anywhere from 3-8 attempts to connect and sometimes I just stop trying because it just won’t transfer the data which is supposed to transfer automatically within 24 hrs but never ever does. As mentioned earlier, the true read readings on the app chronically indicate irregular heartbeat but this indicator does not show on the monitor. I’ve even had a couple of friends with no hypertension conditions test my unit and sure enough, their BP is elevated and readings indicated irregular heartbeat in both user 1 and user 2 so I have a very defective device or its a scam to promote the Cardia EKG monitor. I even contacted Omron to complain about bluetooth connectivity and notification issues but they where of little help.

I was also receiving constant notifications to measure my BP or EKG from both devices even though I never set notifications up and I was still receiving notification to do an EKG test every morning at 9:00 AM even after I deleted the Cardia EKG App and returned the device. I had to literally turn off everything on the Omron app to stop these bizarre notification, only then did they stop which confirms the link between Omron and Cardia EKG home monitor.

This useless garbage is being returned because after 8 attempts to transfer data, it just doesn’t work, it worked fine two days ago but today it is impossible to transfer the data and I am tired of this unnecessary frustration from a device I paid $140 for peace of mind. Incidentally, my BP is consistent at 120/82 using one of my friends devices and I sometimes get this reading mixed in with the unusually high readings. I simply do not trust this product or company for that matter. For that matter, I also no longer trust these Amazon high rating customer reviews which I based this purchase on so I won’t rely on that information ever again to make future purchases.

If anyone using this product is getting chronic irregular heartbeat readings, see you doctor and get a medical EKG test before considering purchasing the Cardia EKG home monitor and if your readings are unusually high like my experience, have your BP tested with your doctor and take your monitor with you and if their is significant discrepancy in readings like mine were, return your device and consider a more reliable manufacturer of hypertension monitors and do not rely on the customer ratings as the determining factor for your purchase like I did…Good Luck!

Very disappointed with this product. I purchased this brand based on a recommendation from my doctor and she said that it’s very accurate. Unfortunately this is not true. It doesn’t account for a larger persons blood pressure correctly. My wrist cuff matches the doctors office measurement while this one consistently is 20-30 points higher.

I do not recommend this. It will cause fear and panic when you first take your pressure.

  8. Smiley (verified owner)

I was worried about the accuracy is it always tested higher at home. I took the unit to the doctors and it always read 20 points higher than theirs. So calling the company I would have to return it and pay for the postage. Return to Amazon no problem

Cardiologist’s office confirmed the monitor was10-15 points high on the diastolic measurement.

I bought this for my grandfather, it arrived the next day in the box with our other orders.

1 problem the blue plastic piece at the end of the air line was broken!!! Renders the whole unit useless, looking closer the plastic is very thin! for a part that will have a lot of movement over time. I don’t see how this is possible. I chose this model because it was expensive and was recommended by amazon. It was more expensive so i assumed it would be a better product. I want a response and i want this rectified someone please contact me. Thanks

The app got stuck asking for location services even though location was ON on my phone and enabled for the Omron app. Couldn’t get past that. No reason to have an expensive Bluetooth blood pressure monitor when the app won’t work. Returned.
Other people had this same problem. The app has a rating of 1.9 out of 5 on Google Play (see picture).
Also, there is no good reason that the app should need location to begin with. Why does it matter where I am when taking my blood pressure.

Nice device BUT with terrible accuracy. Requested a replacement as I would like to continue using the product. Noticed all my BP measurements (several per day, over a week) were way too HIGH for me.
Physician office reading = 132/86 vs. 158/96 at home after 30-minutes on OMRON unit. Typically an at-home reading is lower than in the Drs office.

I already had a BP monitor but I ordered this specifically so I didn’t have to manually enter the data each day into the Apple Health app. According to the manual and website, you can transfer data immediately by pressing the Bluetooth button on the back or wait and it will transfer within an hour automatically. Both of these points are not my reality. Not only that, but it’s not connecting automatically — I have to go into the Bluetooth settings and manually click on the device.

Syncing this thing has been an irritating chore. It’s done a few syncs OK (although takes surprisingly long) but the rest of them — nothing. I’ve had to unpair and re-pair the device, forget the device and re-add it to the Omron app over and over, and even then it often will not sync. It’s doing SOMETHING — because the Omron app won’t let me remove the device if it’s in sync mode, despite not transferring any data, and the Omron app is draining my phone battery like mad, as if it’s looking for the device or connected to the device. Still, no data transfer. So much for one-touch measuring and leaving it to sync on its own within the hour.

By the way, even if it did work properly, why within an hour? Why would it not immediately connect to the phone immediately after a measurement and sync it right away? My other devices like my smart scale do that.

As for the required Omron Connect app, yeesh. It feels like the interface was designed by the marketing department rather with much concern for refining usability and the customer experience. The main page is dominated by product shots. I don’t need a giant photo of the blood pressure monitor using up all my screen space. I know what it looks like. There’s no way of customizing the dashboard either. I would love to be able to have a screen with just my blood pressure data, not BP, then an add for the Kardia EKG monitor followed by an ad for the Premium Protection Plan feature, followed my an unnecessary weight module, followed by another ad for another Premium Protection Plan feature. Just give me my data and present it clearly without having to click through through multiple pages.

I would love to be able to avoid the app altogether and just go right to the Apple Health app like I do all my other data but since I never know if it’s going to connect or sync, I have no idea if I can.

AS FOR THE HARDWARE, it’s great, well built, and seems to work very well. I’m not sure why they put the Bluetooth button on the back and why the Bluetooth button is responsible for so many non-Bluetooth features, but whatever. I’m also not sure why they didn’t put a clear ”sync” indicator on the display either considering how large the screen is. If it’s syncing there’s a flashing ”o” and if it’s finished there’s a flashing ”oooo.” Weird and unintuitive, but whatever.

So…for measuring blood pressure, it’s a solid and recommended piece of hardware. For syncing and the app, my experience has been excruciating. I hope Omron really starts investing in their software team like they do with the hardware design, and please leave the marketing department out of it. I already bought it, okay? I just want to see my data and get out, yes? Really disappointing because they would otherwise have a great thing going.
