After surgery, I needed to monitor my blood pressure regularly starting straight away. I compared them with the OMRON brand. There were extra features that did not seem important, I could not find the model recommended in the consumer report, the extra features seemed to be about getting ownership of my data, but worst, OMRON could deliver for weeks.
I ordered the A&D model (exactly as in the consumer report, it was less than half the price, and arrived in 2 days.
The A&D blood pressure machine has been working absolutely fine ever since.
Negatives: you need to read the instruction very carefully and ensure you sit down, Put the sleeve on properly, don’t move, and relax. Not reading the instructions to begin with led to wrong readings initially.
Positives, reliable, much lower cost, respect confidentiality, and fast delivery.

I don’t know how accurate this thing is because I could never get a reading from it. The cuff is strange. There’s a large fold in it and getting a flat area was impossible because there was a bar across it to create the fold. I couldn’t get the cuff to look anything like the instruction drawing on the cuff and in the instructions. I got it best I could and tried to get a reading. It was showing my pulse, but would inflate, then start to deflate, then start to inflate with the reading over 250, then it would give an error. No matter how hard I tried I couldn’t get a flat cuff. I finally gave up after an hour and sent it back.

ease of use and reliable readings used to take BP over fortnight

First use. Seems to be a bit louder and put more pressure on the arm (my fingers started to tingle) than other home blood pressure monitors I have used. And the fancy cuff is kinda awkward to use compared to the standard ones like Omron etc. And you can’t turn it off, it turns itself off eventually, which works but is vaguely disconcerting. Seems well made and accurate so will give it 4 stars to start and try it for a couple weeks. Mainly just wish they had gone with a simple cuff.
Update – I will add that it does take longer to do a read which combined with the less than comfortable cuff is less than ideal.

I would not buy this or any other product from this manufacturer. It turned out to be defective. It showed my BP was fluctuating from too high to too low to normal- obviously a concern for someone with heart issues. When I took it to my doctor to make sure it was accurate, and that I was using it properly, he determined that it was defective- my BP was fine. It was under warranty so I called the company-they wanted me to ship it back, swap it for another unit and charge me for shipping plus a handling fee. So much for a warranty. But Amazon came through- they sent me a UPS shipping label and will issue a refund- kept my BP in the normal range!

Worked for about a month, just long enough to go past the return date. Reading range from 110/70-160/90 when taken consecutively. This is completely unacceptable. It fails to inflate high enough to read high blood pressures which I have.

I bought this after suffering a small Stroke and I find that my blood pressure is slightly lower than normal so that is something this machine does for me, And I have started doing exercise which has helped lifting my blood pressure.
So I’d recommend this machine

So I took my machine into my cardiologist to see how it was and calibrated ..my machine the A&D said my blood pressure was 130/80 ..but when my blood pressure was take it in the doctors office by the nurse it was 150/80 that’s a big big difference this machine is a piece of crap and dangerous as well I am going to add an update I called the company and they were absolutely wonderful they asked me how my physicians office checked and calibrated my machine and it seems they did not do it right so I have the instructions now on how it’s to be done and if it’s still off by 20 just call them back and they will replace the machine outstanding customer service

Buying a blood pressure monitor turned out to be a lot more complicated than I expected. I ended up buying three models before deciding which one was right for me. The ones I purchased were:
– Omron 10 (BP786N)
– Withings Wireless Blood Pressure Monitor
– A&D UA-767F
I initially purchased the Omron, but it had inaccurate diastolic readings, so I purchased the Withings. However although the Withings was very accurate, it had other issues, so I purchased the A&D, but it had inaccurate systolic readings and a cuff I disliked, so I returned it and decided to keep the Withings. However the Withings stopped working on the 27th day. It resumed working the next day, but I no longer trusted it, so I returned it and am using a replacement Omron 10 in its place.
I tested these blood pressure monitors rigorously, being careful to use proper techniques and recording all results in a spreadsheet. I was impressed that the Withings had the most consistent and I believe accurate results. I did not have the opportunity to take it to my doctor’s office, but I tested against five other home monitors: my old Omron 3, which has been regularly validated at my doctor’s office, a LifeSource ( A&D) UA-767 at the Kaiser Permanente Education Office in San Rafael, CA, two Omron 10’s, and the A&D I returned.
Compared with the Omron and Withings, this A&D BPM is basic and no-fills, but impressive. It’s also the cheapest, selling (as of February 2017) for $15 less than the Omron and $50 less than the Withings.
It doesn’t pretend to have Bluetooth connectivity. It’s what I wanted originally, but after my problems with the Omron and Withings, I decided that Bluetooth for Android BPM’s is more of a hassle at present than it’s worth.
Its accuracy would have been on a par with the Withings and maybe a little better if it hadn’t been for a defect that caused it occasionally to report systolic readings that were at least 10 points too low. I tested it repeatedly, trying to eliminate the possibility that I was doing something incorrectly (I’ve been measuring my blood pressure every day for six years, so I have experience at it). I finally reluctantly decided to return it.
Before deciding to return it, I tried contacting A&D several times about the systolic errors, but the contact form on the A&D website always crashed, giving me an SQL syntax error.
Its data averaging is not as automatic as the others, but is more flexible. The Omron and Withings allow you to average three measurements. It’s totally automatic, You press the button and it does three readings. The A&D requires that you manually start each reading and to time the interval between readings yourself. However the advantage is that you can average as many readings as you want, up to 60. It averages all readings in memory, so if you want to average only the current ones, you need to delete all previous readings from memory. If you record your readings ina spreadsheet like I do, this is not a problem.
One things I strongly disliked about the A&D is the cuff. The Omron and WIthings cuffs are superior. The A&D is very long andt I found more difficult to use than any of the cuffs on the two previous blood pressure monitors that I’ve owned as well as the Omron and Withings. If I ever buy the A&D, I’ll buy a medium cuff for it (approximately $20).
One other thing I like about the A&D: it’s the only one of the three monitors that had all the information I needed to know contained in a single manual, which was included both in printed form with the manual and available for download.
The A&D is the only one that comes with a carrying case. It seemed to be pretty decent quality.
Overall the A&D impressed me. If the one I bought did not have a defect that causes random systolic reading errors, I’d have kept it and ordered a different cuff.

Four of five attempts to obtain a reading result in an error. Every attempt included the cuff inflating to a painful and arm numbing 220 mm Hg. The fifth attempt provided a reading of 190/120. This morning at my doctor’s office, they measured my blood pressure as 120/80. A&D customer service was both stupid and rude. Try anything else before buying this.
