Doesn’t explain the ekg thing. You have to subscribe to a program to have it read. Monthly fees.

Easy to use and very helpful for my cardiologist! Many things they can monitor however keeping tabs on blood pressure often impossible. This machine can remember your past readings, can remind you if time for another and easily perform an EKG. Doctors and nurses very excited over brand reputation and accuracy. Helped vitally to shed light on an answer no one expected. Well worth the initial expense!

This unit does not give you EKG readings without jumping through a bunch of hoops, and none of that is listed on the product page or I would not have ordered it! Further, they ask for a payment method before you can sign up, an outside physician who reads your first EKG before sending it to you, and you must agree that medical information will be collected and sent to outside parties, and outside the USA! You can opt out later, but they already have your personal information! The app would not allow me to take screen shots of the questions for ”security reasons!” For my own personal privacy and security reasons, I am not willing to share such information with anyone other than my physician so, therefore, opted out before I even signed up.

Omron products are well made and for that reason I ordered this blood pressure plus EKG monitor. I feel Omron should share all the details and steps necessary to use this device on the product page so that the consumer can make the decision prior to spending the money. Had I paid $160 for this product, and expecting it to provide me with an EKG reading without knowledge of the hoops I would have to jump through to accomplish an EKG reading, I would return it for a refund!

I don’t think the advertising copy on the Omron product page made it clear that you cannot use this unit out of the box. There’s apps to download, third party contractors, monthly fees, privacy issues involved.

Also, many of the elderly friends of mine who would find a simple at-home EKG a useful part of their health protocol don’t have smart phones. Yes, there really are many people who don’t have smart phones. This unit would be as useful to them as a brick.

I have nothing against this product and I’ve always been keen on Omron products – this time though, I think their marketing department needs to be more transparent with their advertising copy.

It was totally not advertised correctly. You have to sign in and are asked to share your medical information all over the world , If you don’t want to it won’t let you sign in to get results even for yourself and not for them to read.
I would not recommend this product.

I’m not an Omron fanboy but I owe a great deal of piece of mind to them. When I learned that the FDA had just approved the first home EKG + Blood Monitor, I realized what a game changer it could be for our family. Here are tips to use it effectively:

    1) Decide if you really need home EKG measuring. For many families, including ours, this will give far greater confidence in our own health stability. A conversation with your doctor is a good idea since this home technology is brand new.

    2) Read reviews. Not just mine but others, too. Some complain about Omron’s app and I agree it’s just ok, but nowhere near as important as reliability and ease of use. In my objective opinion as a patient, Omron is at the top. If you need EKG measuring, this is the only unit approved by the FDA.

    3) Once you buy the machine, immediately have it calibrated. This is done by taking your initial EKG, sending to AliveCor, and then a certified cardiologist will read it. Once this first time setup is completed, you will not need to do this again, and are ready to use yourself as needed. This initial setup process is not difficult.

    4) If you need to have EKG measured regularly, this machine can save a great deal of money if you do a cost benefit analysis. Look at this machine’s cost over say, three years, and determine your price after insurance reimbursement for each doctor’s visit and test. To me, as I wrote, it’s a game changer not just for savings, but for piece of mind with regular measurements. You can reduce your stress by measuring yourself, too, and that is a contributing factor to some heart attacks.

    MY EXPERIENCE WITH OMRON:
I have no affiliation with this or any other company. Two years ago my blood pressure went to concerning levels. Like with this new machine, I researched which blood pressure monitor is the most consistent, and also used both for home use, and by health professionals. I have worked for years in health communication so this type of research is not only of interest, it’s crucial for my own health. I quickly learned the Omron 10 series blood pressure monitor was the top rated, and also with the most comfortable cuff. I began taking my own pressure twice a day, with three readings at each measurement that are averaged together. In comparing to my doctor’s office, my results have been extremely reliable. I am now down to measuring just in the morning but still fully confident in my Omron.

SHOULD I BE CONCERNED WITH COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE OMRON APP?:
In my opinion, no need to be concerned. I researched APPS, too and found an inexpensive one I downloaded I like better that’s strictly for blood pressure. When needed, I just do a screen shot of averages over time and email to my doctor. He is complementary that I’m on top of my own health monitoring. At this time, there are not year third party APPs for the EKG function because this is the only monitor of its type available for home use. There likely will be in time—in the meantime, I find Omron’s version to be just fine when EKG readings are needed. When I communicate with my doc, we never discuss APPs, we discuss numbers and tweak my medicine if needed.

    MORE DETAILS AND CONCLUSION:
I imagined this Complete Blood Pressure Monitor + EKG would be something huge like at the doctor’s office but it’s really compact in size. Another plus for me is the cuff. It doesn’t squeeze to tight and you don’t have to fuss to put in on. It fits all but the very largest arms but Omron has larger version of the same cuff if needed. If you have a recent Omron blood pressure monitor, it’s the same style. For your heart, it tracks key metrics of artrial fibrillation, tachycardia and bradycardia. If this machine is right for you, with its additional EKG capabilities, it’s really an important breakthrough in home monitoring that can potentially save lives. Last, my wife and I like the piece of mind of 30 days of premium support when first using this monitor.

I really thought this BP monitor was the one that I could use for years and years., but then I found that the EKG feature can only be used and accessed via the app on a cell phone. My last BP monitor is 10 years old and running strong. This BP EKG monitor is dependent on an app to function beyond simple BP use with no tracking or date capture as a stand alone unit.

    Pros
    EKG capable
Solid build with nice fit and finish
    Cuff is comfortable
    Motor is quiet and smooth
Pairs with cell phone and is cloud storage capable

    Cons
No QR code for app download
No where on the purchase page does it say an initial EKG reading must be sent out to be read by a third party. For privacy reasons, This is something I am not willing to do and wish it were clearly stated prior to ordering .
Additional monthly fee required after initial 30 day trial is over.
